Introduction

When We Were Young is a heartwarming coming-of-age story that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt out of place in their own life. The film follows the journey of a group of friends as they move from childhood to adolescence, and ultimately into adulthood.

The film is set in the small town of Bellington, Ohio, in the early 1980s. The town is portrayed as a typical Midwestern community, with its own quirks and eccentricities. The cast of characters is large and varied, but the focus is on four main characters: Andy (played by Jason Ritter), Karen (played by Olivia Thirlby), Nick (played by Nicholas Braun), and Jen (played by Allison pill).

The four friends have been inseparable since kindergarden, but as they enter their teenage years, they begin to grow apart. Karen becomes more interested in boys and clothes, while Nick turns his attention to sports. Jen becomes involved in drugs and partying, and Andy just doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere.

As the years go by, the friends drift further apart. But when a tragedy strikes one of them, they are forced to confront the choices they have made in their lives. Can their friendship survive the changes they have all gone through?
